PNDT software

Software was developed during the project to control to PNDT and to process the measurement data.

Software

The software consists of several modules. The Data Acquisition module is used to control the PNDT; to start and stop measuring, to view the data on-line and to store the data in the database. The Data Archive software is a user interface to the database. It can be used to view and calibrate the data, to compare several measurements with each other, to backup and restore tha database, and to import data to the database and export data from the database. Data Analyser is used to process thermal neutron time decay data. The Data Transfer module can be used to transmit the measurement data from the field location to the office via a GSM link.

Data Archive

An example of the Data Archive software is shown above. The Archive Explorer window at the upper left-hand corner can be used to browse through the measurement data in the database and the property window at the lower left-hand corner shows the various attributes of the data. The upper graph window shows one measurement, whereas the lower window shows a comparison of many measurements. The energy calibration of the data can be performed using the calibration bar along the right-hand margin of the main window.

The PNDT database contains calibration measurement data gathered by the participants during the project. The database is only for internal use of the project partners.

Database

The Log ASCII Standard (LAS) was used as the basis for the database design together with the requirements of the PNDT. The database allows for storage of Client/Project/Environment data and data on the tool itself as well as raw data from a Logging or Monitoring run. It is compatible with standards used in the industry. Data can be transferred between the master database and any user database, or between user databases.
