FINCOPPER is a public domain geoscience database containing the most important copper deposits and significant copper prospects in Finland. The database is in ACCESS format and contains information on 35 mineralizations. The database includes those deposits that are not included in FINZINC, FINGOLD or FINNIC databases. Copper is always the main commodity, although other metals are also present. To be included, a prospect must contain at least 1.5% Cu for a 1 m section or 20 m at 0.5% Cu, or at least 0.2 Mt ore at 0.2% Cu.
The database includes the most prominent copper deposits of Finland (e.g. the now exhausted Outokumpu and Vuonos mines). In addition, a few smaller copper mines (Luikonlahti, Virtasalmi and Ylöjärvi, also exhausted) and one deposit with a definitive feasibility study (Kylylahti) are included. Most copper deposits occur in the central part of Finland, but many smaller mineralizations occur in northern Finland and a few also in southern Finland. All significant aspects of the deposits and prospects (e.g. location, exploration, mining) are covered by internally linked tables in the database. Entries contain references to published literature and other primary sources of data.
