Scientific definition
Scientific description Chemical data for 6544 bedrock samples throughout Finland. Stratified sampling strategy was used. Major and trace elements were analysed by XRF, ICP-MS, ICP-AES and GFAAS methods. Precision and analytical drift were estimated using 375 duplicate sample pairs. The lowest reliable concentration for each element and analytical method was determined. The database also contains the geographic location and several geological attributes for each sample.

License text; General The Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) grants a licence to all persons and organizations to free of charge use the Rock Geochemical Database of Finland. The GTK retains ownership of the data. Permission of commercial use of the data must be agreed with the GTK in written. When presenting products based on the data the origin and version number of the data must be mentioned.

  If you download the database, please send a note by email to rgdb _gtk.fi with a short description of how you inted to use the data. This will help us to keep track of the data and evaluate the usefulness of distributing the database.

  The file names of the observation forms are of the following format: XXXXXXXX.pdf, where XXXXXXXX is the value of the LABNUM variable for the sample. In the Excel file, the LABNUM variable acts as a hyperlink to the observation form.
