The ore geology research targets to study orogenic gold deposits, metamorphosed porphyry copper and epithermal gold deposits, layered intrusion related Cu-Ni-Pge ore deposits and occurrences and ore deposits with unconventional metal associations and uranium. As an important element in the Mineral Potential program, the project supports better establishment of ore deposit models, metallogenic evaluation of Archean and Proterozoic greenstone belts, rift-related layered intrusions and subduction related intrusive-volcanic belts in Finland.  The research is based on mineralogical, petrological, geochemical and geochronological studies using available infrastructure at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), but some specific studies are completed in other institutions or by laboratory development at the GTK.  The research aims to upgrade knowledge about ore deposits of that kind of metals (e.g., Au, Pge, Cu, and Ni) which are in the frontline of mineral exploration on the Fennoscandian shield therefore results also expect interest from the international academic and industry sector. The most important achievements will be published on domestic and international meetings and in professional periodicals. The database produced by the project may be useful for other fundamental and applied geosciences projects within the GTK.
