The aim of the project is to provide cutting-edge data to prospective exploration and mining companies, and academic and research institutions alike.
TerraCore International and GTK are pleased to announce the signing of a contract for hyperspectral imaging at the GTK drill core archive in Rovaniemi, Finland. The campaign will take place this autumn, and will cover at least 40000m of selected cores being captured using TerraCore’s full-range core imaging platform covering the VNIR, SWIR, and LWIR portions of the infrared, as well as a high-resolution RGB camera.
Datasets provided will include automated mineral maps from both the VN-SWIR and LWIR and natural and false-colour images. TerraCore will host the data in their visualization platform, IntelliCore, with access being managed by GTK.
This project is an on ongoing effort of GTK to digitalize physical drill cores by hyperspectral scanning as part of establishing the National Digital drill Core Archive of Finland (NDCAF) in 2021, with an option of scanning campaign continuation in 2022 and 2023. The aim of the project is to provide cutting-edge data to prospective exploration, mining companies, and academic and research institutions.
This project and its data will also help in bringing hyperspectral technology to the forefront in Finland and EU in general for mineral exploration and exploitation as part of the EU’s various raw materials initiatives.
