Personnel survey: GTK people feel that their work is meaningful and the atmosphere of the work community is excellent

The personnel survey conducted last autumn 2025 shows that GTK people feel that their work is meaningful and motivating, as in previous years. The results of the survey also emphasise the expertise of GTK people, the good atmosphere of the work community and the quality of supervisory work.

The Geological Survey of Finland’s annual personnel survey examines GTK’s people’s experiences of work, management and the work community. The personnel survey includes the questions of the government’s revised personnel survey. 86% of GTK people answered the survey conducted in autumn 2025.

According to the results of the survey, GTK people consider their work to be meaningful and motivating. GTK people feel that they can utilise their expertise in their own work. A good atmosphere, support from the work community, low hierarchy and flexible work arrangements were also highlighted as strengths in the responses. Supervisory work is perceived as very accessible, present and trust-building.

“It’s great to see that the meaningfulness and expertise of the work are perceived as strong. They are an important foundation for our work. It is also great that the working atmosphere and supervisory work receive good ratings for us. These results do not come about by themselves – we must constantly invest in them,” says Riikka Mäki, Director of Human Resources at GTK.

The survey also highlighted areas for development. GTK people especially hope that internal cooperation and the flow of information will improve. They also hope that the decision-making processes will be more transparent.

“The areas for development tell us a lot, and we have turned them into actions,” Riikka Mäki says.

As one concrete measure, GTK is investing in the development of project management. The aim is to clarify the responsibilities and roles of projects and to harmonise practices, which supports smoother collaboration and a more efficient flow of information.

Each GTK unit also reviews its own results and agrees on concrete measures to improve everyday work and cooperation.
