Government of Finland Appoints Geological Survey of Finland’s Board of Directors for Next Term

The Government of Finland appointed the Board of Directors for the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) on 30 March 2023, and appointed Juha Ylimaunu as the Board’s chair. The term of the new Board of Directors is from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2026.

The tasks of GTK’s Board of Directors include deciding on the research organisation’s overall policies and strategies, approving the performance agreement made with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment together with GTK’s Director General, and appointing GTK’s research professors.

Doctor of Philosophy Juha Ylimaunu (chair) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment’s senior legal counsel Anja Liukko (vice chair) continue as the Board’s chairpersons. Old members of the Board continuing their work into the new term are Antti Salminen (Kemira Oyj) and Helena Soimakallio (Technology Industries of Finland), who are joined by new board members Tero Holländer of Fortum Battery Recycling Oy and Marja Perälä of the Centre for Economic Development, Transport, and the Environment of Lapland.

The Geological Survey of Finland produces impartial research data and services to support decision-making in industry, academia, and wider society to accelerate the transition to sustainable and carbon-neutral world.
