New Board of Directors and Chair Appointed for Geological Survey of Finland
The Government appointed a new Board of Directors for Geological Survey of Finland GTK on 16 April 2026. Board Professional Joni Lukkaroinen will begin as Chair of the Board while Eeva Vahtera, Senior Ministerial Adviser at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, will serve as Vice-Chair.

The Board’s three-year term will begin on 20 April 2026 and end on 19 April 2029.
The tasks of the Board of Directors include deciding on GTK’s general policies and strategy, approving together with GTK’s Director General the performance agreement concluded with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment, and recruiting research professors as well as contractually hired employees if they have management responsibilities under the direct authority of the Director General.
Tero Holländer, Director of Commercial and Global Key Customers, will continue as a member of the Board of Directors. Managing Director Pentti Vihanto, Professor Ulla Lassi and Board Professional Katri Harra will begin as new members of the Board.
