Tero Niiranen Appointed Research Professor in Ore Geology

Tero Niiranen, Ph.D., has been appointed Research Professor from 1 October 2022. The field of the five-year professorship is ore geology. Niiranen plays a significant role in the development of the ore geology research.

“Finding new mineral raw material resources requires high-quality research and data. Tero’s versatile expertise in mineral system modeling will be in key role when we solve the adequacy of mineral raw materials in the future,” says Asko Käpyaho, Head of Mineral Economy Solutions Unit.

Niiranen has worked as a Senior Scientist at the Geological Survey of Finland since 2008 and prior to this at Senior Geologist and Chief Geologist positions in private sector.
