Webinar & Launch: Managing the Mine Closure Process with a Dedicated Digital Tool

Geological Survey of Finland (GTK) and partners present an online webinar and discussion on how to tackle issues of mine closure in a sustainable way by adopting continuous mine closure and a dedicated digital tool. Digital mine closure management also provides a means to document and verify sustainability of the operation to the authorities and stakeholders.

The webinar is the closing seminar of the EIT Raw Materials funded Closurematic project, and a launching event of the digital product. Join us to find out more and discuss latest developments in the industry. Please pre-register for the event via link.

Lauri Solismaa is the Project Manager of the Closurematic project. He works as a Team Manager at GTK’s Environmental Solutions Unit and has over 10 years of experience in the field of environmental geology.
10.10 Why Digital Mine Closure Management? / Tommi Kauppila, Geological Survey of Finland (GTK)
Tommi Kauppila is a Research Professor of mine and industrial environments at GTK. He holds a PhD and a title of docent in geology from the University of Turku. He has over 15 years of experience in the environmental and sustainability issues in mining.
10.35 Closurematic WA Version – An Example of a Jurisdiction Specific Adaptation / Philip Mittelstädt, DMT
Philip Mittelstädt is a Project Manager at DMT, Germany, a global engineering services and consultancy group. He has over 10 years of experience in executing and coordinating local and international projects with a focus on the assessment of hydrogeological impacts caused by mining activities, including mine closure.

Gaël Bellenfant, Post Mining Coordinator at BRGM (French Geological Survey)
Engineer in geology and with a PhD in environmental and geotechnical sciences, Bellenfant is in charge of research, public and international projects in Post-mining.
