I am a peatland scientist and forester specializing in peatland ecology and restoration in both boreal and tropical regions. My work broadly focuses on peatland ecology and land-use issues, such as the restoration of former peat extraction areas and plantations, the harvesting and cultivation of Sphagnum moss, the potential of peatlands in carbon and biodiversity markets, as well as specific issues related to northern peatlands.
