“I am beginning my term as Director General with enthusiasm and a forward-looking perspective, as there is global demand for GTK’s expertise in areas such as critical raw materials, the availability of clean water, and the management of geodata. One of our spearheads is the GTK Mintec pilot plant and laboratory facilities for the circular economy and mineral processing. Its renewal is well underway to strengthen the services we provide to industry. Collaboration with industry and our partners will be further reinforced both in Finland and internationally,” says Saku Vuori.
Saku Vuori currently serves as Acting Director General of GTK. Prior to this, he has held the roles of Director of Science and Innovation, member of the Management Group, and Deputy to the Director General. He has also previously served as Acting Director General for a four‑month period.
He has extensive and diverse experience in expert and leadership roles at the Geological Survey of Finland. He has worked at GTK since 2003 and has been responsible for research, innovation, strategy and performance management processes. He brings broad experience in leading research and innovation activities, as well as in‑depth knowledge of GTK’s operating environment, mandate and stakeholders. Saku Vuori has also served as Managing Director of the Finnish Association of Metal Producers.
