Strengths in Openness, Cooperation and One’s Own Work – Results of GTK’s Personnel Survey 2024
According to the Geological Survey of Finland’s 2024 personnel survey, GTK people have a strong sense of openness, flexibility and ability to cooperate. The experience of one’s own work also gets good reviews.
Geological Survey of Finland collects information on the job satisfaction of GTK people annually with the help of a personnel survey. In autumn 2024, GTK people once again shared their experiences of their work, work community, leadership and pay.
The results of the autumn survey confirm the results of previous years. The motivation and enthusiasm of GTK people for their own work has remained at a good level. GTK people like their work and feel that they have the opportunity to influence it. Their own and their colleagues’ expertise is perceived as strong, and the support and trust experienced in the work community are emphasised in the responses. A sense of community is considered a significant resource.
Satisfaction with leadership and supervisory work is also good. Assessments of management’s decision-making and setting an example have improved. Supervisor work is praised by the respondents, and supervisors’ resources have improved compared to last year.
“The positive development in the resources of supervisors is great news. We want to identify issues that increase the resources and further strengthen them throughout GTK,” says Riikka Mäki, Director of Human Resources.
The results of the survey also indicate areas for development. Some of GTK people are experiencing increased strain, which is affected by the pressure to save money and make a profit as a result of government budget cuts, among other things. Concerns about the sense of community continue, and many people are still looking for a balance between combining hybrid work, i.e. remote and face-to-face work.
Based on the results of the survey, GTK’s management group decided that streamlining work, managing workload and improving the sense of community are GTK’s key goals for the current year.
“In terms of successes, we can continue with the practices and strengthen them further. It is important to nurture a sense of community and meaningfulness, as they have a great impact on commitment and motivation towards one’s own work,” says Riikka Mäki.
