Introduction
As a Horizon Europe Lighthouse project in the BANOS region (Baltic Sea – North Sea), the project coordinates two-year projects of local communities and other actors (enterprises, authorities, organisations) of the region and provides them with support in the form of funding, communication, impact monitoring and other possible scientific support. The project funds community-led actions (CLA) and road map-type (Transition Agenda, TA) projects. Local projects focus on advancing the EU’s Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters in their own sectors. They put research into practice and innovate new ways of operating within sustainable blue economy by serving as pilot sites and good examples for other actors to share information on best sustainable practices in their fields. BlueActionBANOS continues the work initiated in the BlueMissionBANOS (BMB) project by testing and developing further the indicators of sustainable blue economy defined in the BMB project.
