Introduction

Project builds on the national Deep-HEAT-Flows research framework funded by the Research Council of Finland (decision no. 354356), investigating the formation of deep crystalline geothermal reservoirs in low-temperature cratons like Finland.

The current focus is a collaborative subcontract between the University of Turku and the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK). The primary goal is to characterize deep rock-fluid systems using advanced analytical and modeling techniques to understand their potential as geothermal reservoirs.

Key research tasks include:
1. Rock and mineral characterization (SEM, Micro-XRF, XCT)
2. Isotope dating and fluid inclusion studies
3. Hydro-Mechanical-Thermal-Chemical (HMTC) modeling
4. Geological and geothermal reservoir modeling
5. Scientific collaboration and publication
