Introduction

The FIN-GROW project strengthens Finland’s long term industrial competitiveness by building the strategic, scientific, and technological foundations needed to secure responsible and resilient access to critical and strategic raw materials (CSRMs). These materials underpin Finland’s and Europe’s battery, defense industries, EV, semiconductor and quantum technologies. FIN-GROW responds to the growing global demand for CSRMs and to increasing supply chain volatility driven by geopolitics, market concentration, and accelerating technological transitions. The project integrates advanced geological expertise with data driven foresight, AI enabled analytics, and strategic resilience methodologies. Through this combination, FIN-GROW will produce new intelligence tools that allow Finnish industry and policymakers to anticipate risks, identify export opportunities, and align investments with long term technological and market developments. The project develops AI enabled geoscience intelligence, market foresight analyses, scenario based stress testing, and sector specific export and investment roadmaps. These outputs will help Finnish organisations diversify sourcing, improve valuation and resource use, and strengthen resilience across mineral, manufacturing, and deep tech value chains. By bridging geological capabilities with high tech industrial needs, the project supports the emergence of competitive, low carbon, and strategically autonomous value chains in Finland. FIN-GROW also enhances ecosystem collaboration by connecting research organisations, industrial actors, and policy stakeholders. Its results will be broadly disseminated to support national preparedness, sustainable industrial growth, and Finland’s role as a trusted European leader in responsible CSRMs, data driven resource intelligence, and deep tech innovation.
