Support to the implementation of the EU-Canada Strategic Partnership on Raw Materials

Introduction

Project supports the implementation of the EU–Canada Strategic Partnership on Raw Materials (SPRM), aiming to strengthen secure, sustainable, and diversified supply chains for critical raw materials essential to the European Green Deal and key industrial sectors.

Its overall objective is to enhance cooperation between the EU and Canada across the full raw materials value chain, thereby increasing economic resilience and reducing supply risks linked to external dependencies.

The project is structured around three core pillars: integration of EU–Canada value chains, collaboration in research and innovation, and alignment of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) standards.

Activities include stakeholder engagement, business-to-business matchmaking, investment promotion, analytical studies, and research collaboration initiatives, alongside workshops and knowledge-sharing events.

A key component is the promotion of joint projects and investment opportunities, including support for Strategic Projects under the EU Critical Raw Materials Act.

The project also enhances EU visibility and coordination at major industry events, particularly the PDAC mining convention, to foster partnerships and policy dialogue.

Overall, the initiative seeks to translate strategic cooperation into concrete investments, innovation, and stronger transatlantic value chains.
