Introduction

In the NeAs+ project, the capacity‑building work initiated in the NeAs project is continued to strengthen the capabilities of the project’s Nepalese partner organisation, the Department of Water Supply and Sewerage Management (DWSSM) in ensuring safe and sustainable drinking water from groundwater resources.
The project enhances the technical and institutional capacity DWSSM through training, improved laboratory and monitoring practices, and guidance on the use of hydrogeological assessments in water supply planning. The long‑term goal is that improved procedures and strengthened competence become part of regular public sector operations, ultimately benefitting water users through safer and more reliable drinking water.
NeAs+ is a capacity‑building project funded through the Institutional Cooperation Instrument (ICI), which supports the participation of Finnish government agencies and public bodies’ in development cooperation.
