Project research area
Geoenvironment
Project duration
01.09.2022 - 31.08.2023

Introduction

Lapland is one of Europe’s most important mining areas, and the sector and its service network are one of the most significant industries in the region of Lapland. The objectives of the European Union’s Green Deal and the recent turbulence in world politics have clearly highlighted the paramount importance of increasing the European Union’s raw material self-sufficiency. Lapland, as one of the EU’s most ore potential regions, can meet the challenge, but only if cooperation within the region and the sector can be intensified.

The project responds to the identified need to develop cooperation in the extractive sector in the region of Lapland and starts a dialogue and preparation for cooperation aimed at influencing the mining areas of East and North Finland at the EU level.

The outputs of the project will be published later on this page.
