Geothermal energy source survey

Geothermal energy comes from bedrock, soil and water bodies and it is used for heating and cooling. It is a long-lasting and cost-efficient energy solution for buildings, both in terms of investments and cost of use.

Quartz-bearing rock, such as most common granites and gneisses, is the best material found in Finnish bedrock for geothermal energy due to its excellent heat conductivity. Groundwater and soil can also be good sources or reservoirs for geothermal energy.

When a geothermal energy source is surveyed to discover its usefulness for a construction project, reliable background information on the plot is needed for cost calculations and to determine the scale of equipment needed.
