Geomari – Marine Geology Research Vessel

The research vessel Geomari is an aluminium-body catamaran operated jointly by GTK and the Finnish Navy. Geomari is mainly used for seafloor mapping and marine geology research. The demands set by operating in Finland’s shallow coastal waters have been taken into account in the vessel’s design.

Geomari has an instrumentation centre on the command deck for research purposes, as well as a wet lab, accommodation for crew, marine geological research equipment and an open 40 m2 stern. The stern features hoists and room for project-specific measuring equipment, samplers and winches.
