Areas of expertise:
Samrit Luoma, Ph.D. (Geology), is a Senior Scientist at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK), specializing in groundwater modeling and assessment. Since joining GTK in 2004, she has contributed to numerous national and international research projects addressing groundwater resources, environmental impacts, climate change adaptation, and sustainable water management. Her expertise includes groundwater flow and solute transport modeling, groundwater resource characterization, vulnerability assessment, and risk management of aquifers. Her research integrates 3D geological and hydrogeological modeling with geochemical and geostatistical analyses to improve understanding of groundwater systems and support evidence-based water resource management. Samrit has participated in several European and Finnish research programs, including projects related to climate change impacts on groundwater resources, urban water management, submarine groundwater discharge, groundwater quality protection,
